BORROWING POLICY

Only members, provincial and federal ministries/departments, universities and public libraries may borrow documents from the Muniscope Collection. All loan requests are processed as quickly as possible, often within 24 hours. Documents are sent library rate through regular parcel service (Canada Post) and return mail is prepaid. For rush delivery, items can be couriered at the requestor's expense.

Muniscope members are subject to a $10 loan fee per print document and $5 per photocopy or electronic document. The interlibrary loan fees (ILL) for public libraries and universities are the same as the Muniscope member rate. Muniscope Plus members and users affiliated with provincial/territorial or federal departments/ministries borrow documents for free.

The length a document may be borrowed is as follows:

  • 21 days --- All new acquisitions
  • 30 days --- Regular loans

A requestor may request that loan periods be extended for a period of 14 days. Loans may be extended up to four times providing there is no waiting list for that particular document.

Copies of journal articles requested by patrons will be faxed or emailed to patrons in PDF format. If a patron requests both copies of journal articles and books, photocopies of the journal articles will be mailed to the requestor with the borrowed material. Copies of journal articles are only provided for research purposes and should be destroyed once the research has been completed.

Electronic documents will be sent as a link via email whenever possible. The URLs for most documents available via the Internet can be found in the full display of the record in the online catalogue. Documents given to ICURR in electronic format will only be sent as an attachment if ICURR has received dissemination rights from the copyright holder or the work is in public domain.
